Designing the Future of Skincare
femooi is our technology-driven brand dedicated to making professional skincare accessible and user-friendly. We design, develop, and manufacture a range of innovative beauty devices that empower people through science and technology. Our products, from nano-meso therapy devices to scalp care systems, are designed to deliver effective, safe, and convenient skincare solutions. We secured seed funding and a subsequent Series A round led by prominent venture capital firm IDG Capital. Following our launch, we quickly established a strong market presence, becoming the number one selling device in our category on Tmall in China.
Nano-Meso
Nano-meso is a non-invasive technology we use to enhance the absorption of topical ingredients. It utilizes microscopic tips to create temporary micro-channels in the skin’s outermost layer. These channels allow active ingredients to bypass this barrier and penetrate more effectively, increasing ingredient bioavailability without the use of needles.
Digital Ecosystem
A core part of our strategy was creating the femooi app, which transforms our standalone devices into a connected, intelligent skincare system. The app serves as a personal skin consultant for our users, analyzing skin needs and usage data to generate personalized weekly care plans.
Our commitment to outstanding user experience was recognized when the femooi app won the prestigious iF Design Award in 2024. This accolade highlights its excellence in providing an intuitive interface that enhances the entire beauty care journey.
My Role: Co-founder & CTO
As co-founder and CTO, I was instrumental in scaling our team from a 4-person startup to a 150-person operation in five years. My role encompassed our entire technology stack, from physical hardware to the digital ecosystem. I led hardware product development from ideation and industrial design through to mass manufacturing, together with our supply chain and production partnerships. Concurrently, I built and directed the software and data teams to develop our consumer-facing apps and internal data systems. A key focus was defining our brand’s interaction design language to ensure a cohesive user experience across all devices and software. This leadership role required directing cross-functional teams (R&D, design, software, marketing) while fully immersed in a Chinese cultural and language environment.
